I was reading the latest Parents magazine and found that there are now "Safe for Drinking" Garden Hoses because old PVC hoses contain lead. From what I've continued to read on-line is that the amounts of lead are small; but that the exposure should still be limited and that you should never drink from PVC hoses.If you choose to keep your old hose, then they suggest running the hose for a couple minutes to flush out the old water before filling up pools and things that will come into contact people. Apparently, the standing water has higher levels of lead.
Who knew? All I can think about is all the countless times that I drank from a hose as a kid.
