Just got a great tip from Juicyfairy.com about Nike's Reuse-A-Shoe program. Apparently Nike actually takes any brand of old athletic shoes and recycles them into:
The guidelines are as follows:
• Athletic shoes only (any brand)
• No shoes containing metal
• No cleats or dress shoes
• No wet or damp shoes
You can either send them in to:
Nike Recycling Center
c/o Reuse-A-Shoe

I had heard of something like this a long time ago but never knew the specifics. Now I do.
