If, in fact, you know the people in your "group", then I can see this being a great thing. If you don't, I would never advise sending children off with strangers. Even people in authority roles can no longer be held at the same level of trust as they once could have. Of course, you always have the option of getting to know the people before officially signing up. Carpooling Web Site
I was reading an article about a carpooling website called, Divide the Ride. Apparently, you can sign up to be part of a carpool. While it sounds fantastic, I have to say, I'm sceptical. Carpooling with people you know is one thing and I'm all for that. Unfortunately though, we live in a world where strangers can't always be trusted. The site describes it's service as follows:

Hi,
I would like to clarify that Divide The Ride (www.dividetheride.com) states that you select people that you know and trust to be part of your carpool. The service DOES NOT match you up with other people. As a parent you select who you want to invite in your carpool group. All information is password/login protected and available ONLY to those you choose to be in your carpool. It is a fantastic, free service and saves on gas money too.
I'm glad to hear it. That makes a lot more sense and I'm going to have to look into that more for when I have a need. Thank you very much for clarifying.
This is good stuff. Ideally, it would be great to work out of your home. I'd be going green and keeping green in my wallet. Currently, I have a 45 min. commute.
