I was Planet Green again, and heard some interesting news about greenroof projects going on in Chicago and elsewhere. Apparently, by planting greenery on your roof, the plants reduce heat by dispersing water. The plants also act as a filter, keeping pollutants and CO2 out of the air. Thus it helps with the global warming .
Greenroofs also reduce the amount of stormwater that enters the streets, picking up oil and other pollutants that are then carried to our lakes, and oceans. Rain barrels and things of that sort also help with this problem.
Now, I don't know too much more than that because I only caught the tail end of the show, but it definitely sounds interesting.
