Recycle your bottle caps with Aveda

Finally, I found a place to recycle plastic bottle caps. This is very exciting because, as I've mentioned before, you cannot recycle caps with #1 & #2 bottles because they are a different plastic type. Now, however, Aveda has just kicked off a new recycling campaign through schools and salons throughout various communities.

Here's the facts:

What-
caps that twist on with a threaded neck such as caps on shampoo, water, soda, milk and other beverage bottles, flip top caps on tubes and food product bottles (such as ketchup and mayonnaise), laundry detergents and some jar lids such as peanut butter
How-
Bring your plastic caps into an Aveda Store [Salon or school]
Why-
the material is recycled into new caps and containers

True, this isn't everywhere yet, but I still think it's promising. I love it when I see something being recycled that I didn't know could be. Is that weird?

Read all the facts here.

Now, I can't hardly do an article anymore without trying to find a craft in it. It's a phase I'm going through right now. So, here's my crafty finds for plastic bottle cap art:

Art Grange - Michelle Stitzlein is the artist featured here and she works on a grander scale than most of us would but there's great inspiration here.

Great Green Goods- various things but I was most interested in the masks like the one to the right.
